Songwriting

I'm trying to get back in to writing music again. But I'm worried that I only seem to be inspired to write when I'm pissed off. Very Happy I suppose it's a cathartic thing for me. I'm such a total sweetie in real life Razz it's hard for me to express anger so I do it through my lyrics. I suppose this is healthier than beating the shit out of people, but I still feel I'm not a "proper" songwriter, because surely a "proper" songwriter should be inspired by everything and not just a particular mood. Anyway, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any thoughts on this. Are songs less valid if they're written in a high state of emotion? I'm not ranty - there's always a finesse to my lyrics. I like to think so anyway! Can anger really be a writing style?
